1966 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK III ROADSTER

Austin-Healeys evolved dramatically during the marque’s brief life. It’s hard to accept today that the debut of the first four-cylinder BN1 in 1952 to the production of the last grand touring BJ8 covered a span of only seventeen years. But that’s all it took. The final Big Healey, the 1964-1968 3000 Mark III Phase 2, brought it all to a fabulous conclusion with a 150hp 3-liter twin carburetor six, luxurious appointments including comfortable seats and a burl wood dashboard, and a rugged, competent chassis with enhanced ground clearance.

This 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III Phase 2 has led a remarkable life, with only two owners (the first owner living locally in Chicago) and 65,000 miles from new. Originally painted British Racing green, it now sports a red coat of paint courtesy of Maako in the 70s (That’s all I could afford) The interior has a new walnut dash while the rest is a time capsule and testament to my loving ownership, attention, care and preservation. The interior, carpets and Healey floormats are original, the top boot and tonneau cover were replaced by me in the 70’s. The body shows only a few stone chips but no dents or dings. It rides on original-style Dunlop Gold Cup bias-ply whitewall tires. It has new 72-spoke chrome wire wheels. Even the underbody is as it left the factory, untouched and nearly pristine, and a factory crayon ‘3’ still adorns the door jamb. In 2022 the car underwent considerable restoration. This included a full paint of the exterior and refurbishment of the interior, including carpets and seat coverings, along with veneers.

Highly appreciated by collectors, this is the Big Healey to have: the final Phase 2 iteration of the 3000 Mk III.
